Flags I Stand By
Only a Pinch of Personal Life
Degree/Career/Work Background
I am Gislaine Teixeira Borges,
proudly carrying ‘three’ blessed citizenships:
The first one – Brazilian – being ordained from above.
The second one – Canadian – being selected and acquired.
And the last one – Mexican – being adopted in my heart.
By the circumstance of travelling all around Brazil inside my father’s truck until I started school, I afford to have only one babysitter/ caregiver/ teacher: my outstanding mother.
By destiny, I am an only child living far away from my parents who I am so close to – which is very contradictory, but quite the truth.
By choice, I am the mother of an only child – a remarkable two-and-a-half-year-old boy.
Lastly, if I had to summarize how my last year has been in only one line; it would surely be in these precise words contained in my favourite format of numeric expression:
{[(Yoga Training Course + Covid-19 = Reading-&-Writing) + Rumination] = This Blog}
Despite not making use of my degrees (definitely not in the way that is typically expected), I have a couple of them: Bachelor of Mathematics and Master of Scientific and Technological Education.
I have some years of teaching experience, as a math teacher for elementary and high school, as well as an in-classroom and online professor of the respective subjects: Calculus 1 and Mathematics Methodology and Practice (all in Florianopólis, SC, Brazil).
Since I arrived in Canada, I worked some years as a boutique sales assistant and I used to be a content hotel receptionist (believe it or not) until the flavourless ‘Covid-19’ knocked me out in 2021.
Now, I am looking forward to seeing what is the next lucky door that I’ll knock and it’ll welcome me in.
